Message from the WGFD Elk Feedground Steering Committee: Hello! As the Elk Feedground Management Plan process continues, the Steering Committee is pleased to invite you to several upcoming stakeholder and public engagement opportunities.
Stakeholder Preview Meetings: ZOOM LINK All Elk Feedgrounds Stakeholders are invited to a Zoom meeting on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 5:30 pm. Register for the Zoom meeting at THIS LINK, then receive an email with log-in information. This meeting is an opportunity to share an overview of the plan’s contents from the committee and receive a copy of the draft elk feedground management plan via email before it becomes available to the public the following day. This Zoom meeting will be recorded for those unable to attend.
Comment Periods: The draft plan will become available on the Department’s website on June 30, 2023. You will receive a link to an online comment form where you can share your feedback on the draft plan. The online commenting link, will remain open for both stakeholders and the public through September 10, 2023.
Public Meetings: The committee will host four public meetings in late July 2023; dates and locations are listed below. These meetings are designed to share an overview of the plan, then hear comments from all interested members of the public. Stakeholders are invited and encouraged to attend any of these meetings.
Monday, July 24, 2023, at 6:00 pm: Jackson, WY Public Library
Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at 6:00 pm: Online via Zoom REGISTRATION LINK
Wednesday, July 26 at 6:00 pm: Pinedale, WY Public Library
Thursday, July 27 at 6:00 pm: Afton, WY Civic Center
Stakeholder Wrap-Up Meeting: A final stakeholder meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the public library in Pinedale, WY, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This meeting will provide stakeholders an in-person opportunity to meet, discuss the draft plan, consider the main themes of the public comment received to date, and offer additional input.
Final Revisions and Commission Approval: Following the comment period closure, the committee will complete final revisions on the draft and present the plan to the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission at their November 2023 meeting with a request for their review and approval.
Process To Date: A reminder to all stakeholders that the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s Elk Feedground Management Plan is designed “…to consider all biological, social, economic and political issues to achieve a durable, publicly-supported long-term feedgrounds management plan for the 22 Game and Fish-operated elk feedgrounds.” You are welcome to reacquaint yourself with all Phase I and II information, shared learning, and public input on the Department’s website.
