King Ranch Company Receives 2015 Leopold Conservation Award® as Part of Wyoming’s Environmental Stewardship Award Program

Cheyenne, Wyo. – The King Ranch Company, recipient of the 2015 Wyoming Leopold Conservation Award, given as part of the Wyoming Stock Growers Environmental Stewardship Award Program, is recognized for its hard work and dedication to voluntary conservation. This dedication sets an example of outstanding land management to landowners across Wyoming and the United States.

“It is an honor to be considered this year among some of the best ranches I’ve seen in the state,“ said Mark Eisele. Eisele and his wife, Trudy, are part owners of the ranch with daughter Kendall Roberts. Their cattle ranch is located outside Cheyenne, Wyo., and spans its western city limits.  With a population of about sixty thousand, Cheyenne boasts the NCAR-Wyoming Super Computing Center, several large wind turbine facilities and city facilities are located on or adjacent to the King Ranch which give support to the large community and state. “The King Ranch has an interesting opportunity to ranch near a big city, by Wyoming’s terms, and create rapport with the community as they have,” said Jim Magagna, Wyoming Stock Growers Association (WSGA) Executive Vice President.

The WSGA Environmental Stewardship Tour will be held in early July and will showcase the King Ranch Company, the history of the ranch, and the family’s land management practices.

The Leopold Conservation Award in Wyoming is presented by Sand County Foundation in partnership with The Wyoming Stock Growers Association as part of the Wyoming Stock Growers Environmental Stewardship Program.  It is sponsored by Peabody Energy, Tri-State Generation & Transmission Association, World Wildlife Fund and Monaghan Management.
