Summer Internship Program

The Wyoming Stock Growers Association (WSGA) was established in 1872, being the second oldest state cattle association in the United States, where it focuses entirely on serving the needs of the livestock industry, which is the largest segment of Wyoming’s agricultural production. Its mission is to serve that industry by protecting its economic, legislative, regulatory, judicial, environmental, customs and cultural interests.

 WSGA is looking for a willing, dedicated, and enthusiastic intern majoring in Agricultural Communications or Journalism to join our staff for the summer of 2018.

  Intern Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help educate and inform Real Ranchers’ and WSGA members through social media outlets: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Word Press by interviewing and/or obtaining information from rural Wyoming communities or person(s).
    • Using and creating materials on Adobe Photoshop
    • Assist Programs Director in planning and hosting state wide events such as the Wyoming Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show, Wyoming Stock Growers Environmental Stewardship Tour, workshops, and the Wyoming State Fair.


    • Opportunity to assist the Executive Vice President conducting research as needed and assisting the Office Manager with administrative duties as needed.
    • Learn various aspects of the WSGA webpage and updating through the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association CMS Web-Host site.
    • Develop and release press releases to state and affiliate media.
    • Interview, write and photograph for articles that will be in the quarterly CowCountry Magazine.
    • Open mind to learn various agricultural issues

Job Requirements and Details:

  Start and end date: Approx. Monday, May 21st – Friday, August 17th

  • Work hours: 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.
  • Travel and additional work hours during convention and special events will occur throughout the summer (Interns will be notified before event).
  • Stipend:$1,200/ month (two pay periods per month by direct deposit)
    • Intern is responsible to find housing for the duration of the summer in Cheyenne.
  • Internship located at 113 East 20th Street, Cheyenne, Wyoming
